Ingredients:
For the Cake:
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2 cups white sugar
2 large eggs
1 cup apple butter
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 cup buttermilk
For the Glaze:
1/4 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons milk
Directions:
For the Cake:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and white sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the apple butter.
Combine the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves in a separate bowl.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with buttermilk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 35-40 minutes.
Allow the cake to cool slightly before glazing.
For the Glaze:
In a saucepan, melt 1/4 cup butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar and milk; bring to a boil. Boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
Pour the hot glaze over the warm cake, spreading it evenly.
Let the cake cool completely before serving.
